This Twitter thread on solar power from MIT perfectly illustrates the contradictions inherent to capitalism that make it unable to effectively and equitably address the socioeconomic needs of people.
In essence, solar power is a problem because the power generated can't be choked off to create artificial scarcity and jack up prices, meaning low cost electricity that companies can't make as much profit off of it.
The argument is literally, solar power is too cheap and efficient and we need to address this before expanding solar to meet climate goal or else it'll make the market unhappy and capital will lose out on massive profits.
From capitalism's POV, the existence of a super cheap and efficient power source is a bad thing, regardless of the current ecological crisis we are facing that was created, or at least exacerbated by, our reliance on fossil fuels.
It should make it obvious that we need a better, more equitable, and more ecologically-friendly system in which the production of goods and services is based on need rather than greed, and prioritizes the health of the planet over shareholders' bottom line.
